Scientific Name: Corydoras sp. CW111 (commonly called Vulcan Cory)

Maximum Size and Lifespan:

• Grows to about 2-2.5" in length.

• Lifespan of 6–8 years with proper care.

Recommended Aquarium Size, Water Changes, and Water Parameters:

• Minimum tank size: 20-30 gallons, best kept in groups of 6+.

• Weekly water changes of 30–40% to maintain excellent water quality.

• Water parameters:

  • Temperature: 22–26°C (72–79°F)

  • pH: 6.0–7.5
    

• Fine sand or smooth gravel substrate is essential to protect their barbels.

Tankmates:

• Peaceful community fish such as small tetras, rasboras, pencilfish, dwarf cichlids, and other Corydoras species. Angelfish and Discus, also small to medium sized plecos.

• Avoid large or aggressive tankmates that may outcompete or harass them.

Diet:

• Omnivorous bottom-feeders.

• Accept a mix of high-quality sinking pellets, wafers

• Frozen (bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp)

• Spirulina based foods for balanced diet

• Benefit from a varied diet to maintain health and coloration.

Natural Environment:

• Native to Peru, collected in the upper Amazon basin.

• Found in slow-moving creeks and tributaries with sandy or muddy bottoms, leaf litter, and submerged roots.

• Waters are typically soft, acidic to neutral, and shaded by surrounding vegetation.

Breeding:

• Similar to other Corydoras breeding behavior.

• Condition with live and frozen foods.

• Trigger spawning with cooler water changes simulating rainy season.

• Eggs are adhesive, usually placed on plant leaves, aquarium glass, or décor.

• Adults may eat eggs, so separate breeders or remove eggs for best success.

• Eggs hatch in 3–5 days, fry should be fed freshly hatched brine shrimp or finely powdered fry foods.
